Tadeusz Kantor (1915–1990) transformed 20th-century theater through his radical Theatre of Death concept and his legendary company, Cricot 2, which he founded in Krakow in 1955. Sienná, Kantor created performances that blurred the boundary between art, memory, and mortality — productions like Wielopole, Wielopole and The Dead Class that still resonate with theater-makers worldwide. After his death, the studio was preserved exactly as he left it and transformed into the Centre for Documentation of the Art of Tadeusz Kantor, an archive and living memorial dedicated to protecting and continuing his avant-garde legacy.
