Forum Przestrzenie occupies the bones of the Hotel Forum, a hulking brutalist structure completed in 1988 on the banks of the Vistula River. Built during Poland's communist period, it was designed to impress foreign guests with its modernist scale — then stood abandoned for over a decade after the system that created it collapsed. Rather than demolishing it or forcing a sterile renovation, a collective of entrepreneurs and creatives saw potential in its decay. In 2016, the surrounding grounds were transformed into one of Krakow's most beloved cultural destinations, leaving the building's raw, weathered exterior completely intact. The result is a monument to reinvention, perfectly suited to a city that has always known how to make something beautiful from difficult history.
