Krakow is a year-round destination, but each season offers a distinctly different experience. Summer (June-August) brings long days, outdoor dining, and festivals, but also the biggest crowds and highest hotel prices — especially in July and August when temperatures can hit 30°C. If you visit in summer, book accommodation early and expect queues at Wawel Castle and Schindler's Factory.
Spring (April-May) and autumn (September-October) are the sweet spot for most travellers. Temperatures hover around 15-22°C, the city is less crowded, and hotel prices drop 20-30% from peak. Spring brings blooming Planty Park and Easter traditions, while autumn paints the city gold and brings cultural events like the Sacrum Profanum music festival. Late September still has warm enough weather for outdoor dining.
Winter (November-March) is cold — temperatures regularly dip below zero — but the city is magical. The Christmas market on the Main Square runs from late November through December and is one of the best in Europe. January and February are the quietest months, ideal for museum-hopping and cozy restaurant meals without any queues. Hotel prices are at their lowest, and the city feels authentically local rather than touristy.
