Best Viewpoints in Krakow: Where to Find the Perfect Panorama

From ancient mounds to rooftop bars, Krakow rewards those who climb.

Krakow is a flat city, which makes its elevated viewpoints all the more special. The most iconic is the Kosciuszko Mound in Zwierzyniec — a 326-meter artificial hill built in 1823 that offers a complete 360-degree panorama including the Tatra Mountains on clear days. Entry costs 16 PLN and includes a small museum.

For a free alternative with arguably a better city view, head to the Krakus Mound in Podgorze. This prehistoric mound (possibly dating to the 7th century) is where locals go for sunset picnics. The view of Wawel Castle and the Old Town skyline from here is the most photographed panorama in Krakow.

St. Mary's Tower climb (20 PLN) puts you above the Main Square rooftops, while the Town Hall Tower (12 PLN) offers a different angle on the same scene. For rooftop bar views, the terrace of Hotel Stary and the Bunkier Cafe terrace are hard to beat.
