How to Get From Krakow Airport to the City Center

Train, bus, taxi, or private transfer — every option compared with prices and travel times.

Krakow's John Paul II International Airport (KRK) is just 11 km west of the Old Town, and getting to the center is straightforward. Here's every option ranked by value.

TRAIN (best value): The station is inside the terminal building — follow signs to "Koleje." Direct trains to Krakow Glowny (main station) run every 30 minutes, take 18 minutes, and cost 12 PLN. Buy tickets from the machine on the platform (card accepted) or the PKP app. The main station is a 10-minute walk to the Market Square. This is the best option for most travelers.

BUS 252/208 (cheapest): City buses stop outside the terminal and reach the center in 35-45 minutes for 6 PLN. Useful if your hotel is on the bus route, but slower and less comfortable than the train. Buy tickets from the driver (exact change) or the Krakow MPK app.

TAXI (convenient): Official airport taxis queue outside arrivals. The fixed fare to the Old Town is approximately 80-100 PLN (20-minute ride). Only use official taxi stands — never accept rides from people approaching you inside the terminal. Bolt and Uber also operate and are typically 50-70 PLN.

PRIVATE TRANSFER (groups): Pre-booked private cars cost 100-150 PLN and the driver meets you with a name sign. Worth it for groups of 3-4 splitting the cost, or for arrivals after midnight when train frequency drops.
