Live Music in Krakow: Jazz, Classical, Electronic & Folk

From smoky jazz cellars to world-class concert halls — the complete music guide.

Krakow's music scene spans centuries of tradition and cutting-edge innovation. Every night of the week, you can find live music somewhere in the city.

Jazz: Alchemia's cellar hosts live jazz sessions (typically Tuesdays and weekends) in an atmosphere so perfect it feels scripted — candles, brick arches, cigarette smoke drifting up the stairwell. Harris Piano Jazz Bar on Rynek Glowny is more polished, with nightly piano jazz in an intimate basement. The Krakow Jazz Festival (autumn) brings international acts.

Classical: the Krakow Philharmonic offers world-class performances at remarkably affordable prices (20-80 PLN). Church concerts are free — especially during Advent, when the Gothic and Baroque acoustics of St. Mary's, the Franciscan Church, and the Church of St. Anne transform choral and organ music. The Wawel Castle courtyard hosts summer concerts.

Electronic: the Unsound Festival (October) is one of the world's most respected electronic music events, using venues from salt mines to power plants. Year-round, clubs like Szpitalna 1 and Prozak 2.0 host DJ nights and live electronic acts.

Folk and world: Kazimierz is the epicenter of klezmer music revival — Ariel and other Szeroka Street restaurants feature live klezmer nightly. Polish highland folk music (goralski) appears at restaurants like Morskie Oko and Karczma u Baby.

Plan ahead: check What's On Krakow, Karnet.krakow.pl, or ask your hotel concierge. Free concerts in churches are rarely advertised — walk past and check posters on the door.
