Staying connected in Krakow is easy and cheap. Here are your options from best to most basic.
EU TRAVELERS: If your home SIM is from an EU country, your existing data plan works in Poland at no extra charge (EU roaming regulation). Check your plan's fair use limit — typically 5-15 GB per month. This is the easiest option.
PREPAID SIM (non-EU visitors): Polish prepaid SIMs are excellent value. Buy from a Play, Orange, T-Mobile, or Plus shop — there are several on Ulica Florianska and in Galeria Krakowska. A starter pack with 10-30 GB of 4G/5G data costs 25-50 PLN. You'll need your passport for registration (EU anti-fraud regulation). Setup takes 10-15 minutes.
eSIM: If your phone supports eSIM, services like Airalo and Holafly offer Poland/Europe data eSIMs that you activate before landing. Prices start around 5 EUR for 1 GB. Convenient but slightly more expensive per GB than a local SIM.
FREE WiFi: Available in virtually every restaurant, cafe, and bar — just ask for the password. The Main Market Square and Galeria Krakowska have free municipal WiFi (login required, decent speed). Hotel WiFi is universally free. The coverage is good enough that many short-stay visitors skip buying a SIM entirely.
