Krakow Public Transport: Tickets, Passes & Getting Around

Trams, buses, and the 72-hour pass that saves you money.

Krakow's public transport network of trams and buses is efficient, cheap, and covers the entire city. For most visitors staying in the Old Town, walking handles 90% of needs — but transport is essential for Nowa Huta, Wieliczka, the Kosciuszko Mound, and the airport.

Ticket types: single ride (20-minute: 4.60 PLN, 50-minute: 6.00 PLN), 24-hour pass (17.00 PLN), 48-hour (26.00 PLN), and 72-hour (36.00 PLN). The 72-hour pass is the best value for active sightseers. Tickets cover all trams and buses within Krakow.

Where to buy: ticket machines at every tram and bus stop (accept cards and coins, have English language option), the Jakdojade app (buy and validate digitally — highly recommended), or kiosks near major stops. Validate paper tickets on board by inserting them in the yellow validators.

Key routes for tourists: Tram 1/2 — Main Square area to Kazimierz; Tram 3/9/50 — to Zablocie/Schindler's Factory; Tram 4 — to Nowa Huta; Bus 304 — to Wieliczka Salt Mine; Bus 100 — to Kosciuszko Mound; Bus 208/252 — to the Tyniec Abbey.

Getting to/from the airport: Bus 208 connects the airport to the Old Town (50 min, regular ticket). The faster option is the train from the airport terminal to Krakow Glowny station (18 min, 12 PLN). Bolt/Uber to the Old Town costs approximately 50-70 PLN.

Bike sharing: Wavelo bike-sharing stations are throughout the city. The Vistula cycling path is excellent — flat, scenic, and separated from traffic.
